Google has started a free SMS service for G-mail in partnership with major cellular operators in India. The service will allow Gmail users to send free SMS from chat windows to registered mobile number.
For using free SMS service click the ‘more’
scroll button on your friend’s chat window and click ‘send text (SMS)’.
Save your friend’s mobile phone number in new pop-up window and now you are ready to go.

The service starts with 50 SMS credit for
each user and it will display at lower part of chat box. Every sent SMS cost
one credit and every replied message adds 5 credit and maximum credit will be
50 at any time. If your credit comes down to zero then you have to wait for 24
hours to get back 50 credits.
Google says,” if you’d like a higher message credit, you can always send an SMS to your own phone, and then reply to that message multiple times. Every time you send a reply message, your SMS credit is increased by five. Effectively you’re buying messages by paying your mobile operators for these outgoing messages.
